Ingredients

Dough and Meat
  • 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough, room temperature
  • 1/2 lb lean ground beef Cook until browned
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Burger Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle chips For topping
  • 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce For topping
  • 1/2 cup diced fresh tomatoes For topping
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds Optional, for crust border

Method

Preparation and Browning
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If you are using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is completely browned.
  3. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then drain the excess fat and set the meat aside.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and relish to create your burger sauce base.
Assemble the Pizza
  1. Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface or a piece of parchment paper to a 12-inch circle.
  2. Spread the burger sauce evenly across the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
  3. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and half of the cheddar cheese over the sauce.
  4. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef and sliced red onions across the cheese.
  5. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and sprinkle sesame seeds onto the crust border if desired.
Baking and Plating
  1. Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  2. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2 minutes.
  3. Before serving, top the hot pizza with the dill pickle chips, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
  4. Slice into wedges and serve immediately to enjoy the contrast of the hot pizza and cold toppings.

Notes

Always brown your ground beef before adding it to the pizza. For a crispier crust, preheat your baking sheet or pizza stone for at least 20 minutes before sliding the dough onto it.
