  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for added flavor.

Preparation
  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly and slice them into thin rounds, removing any seeds.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Add the orange slices to the pan and bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Let the orange slices simmer for about 1 hour until they become translucent and tender.
  5. Carefully remove the slices from the syrup and place them on a wire rack to cool.
  6. If desired, dip the cooled slices in granulated sugar to add a sparkling finish.
  7. Allow the slices to dry completely before using or storing them.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. They can last up to two weeks on the kitchen counter and up to a month in the fridge. Ensure they are fully cooled before storing.
