  • 1 medium head green cabbage, chopped Red cabbage can be used for a color variation.
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced Provides a flavorful base.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds depth of flavor.

Method

Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or deep pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and diced onion to the pan. Cook until the beef is fully browned and the onions are translucent, breaking the meat into small crumbles with a wooden spoon.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until it smells fragrant.
  5. Add the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with their juices), tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Stir everything well to ensure the tomato paste is evenly distributed.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet with a lid, and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cabbage is tender.
  8. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed before serving hot.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using beef broth instead of water if additional moisture is needed. You can also customize the recipe by adding other vegetables such as bell peppers or carrots.
