Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms, then knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Cooking
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large pot, bring a mixture of water and baking soda to a boil.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into bites.
- Boil each piece in the water solution for 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush each pretzel bite with egg wash and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter before serving.
Notes
Serve warm, ideally with mustard, cheese sauce, or ranch dressing for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days or freeze for up to a month.
