Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm water Make sure it is warm, not hot.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast Can substitute with instant yeast.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Baking Solution
  • 1/4 cup baking soda For the dip.
For Egg Wash
  • 1 egg egg Beaten for egg wash.
  • Coarse salt For sprinkling.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and brown sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes on a floured surface.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
Baking
  1. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into bite-sized shapes.
  2. Prepare a baking soda solution by dissolving baking soda in boiling water.
  3. Dip each pretzel bite into the baking soda solution for about 30 seconds.
  4. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Brush the tops with an egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with classic mustard, creamy cheese dip, marinara sauce, or other dips. Store in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
