Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and kosher salt. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and melted butter, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl and cover, allowing it to rise for about 1 hour.
Cooking
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add baking soda.
- Roll the dough into small balls and boil each for about 30 seconds.
- Place the boiled dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to one month. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
