  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Keep butter cold for best results.
  • 6-8 tbsp ice water Add gradually.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, a tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls, flatten into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit your pie pan.
  6. Pre-bake or fill as desired for pies.

Notes

If you have leftover dough or want to prepare it in advance, store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the dough for up to 3 months.
