Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast Ensure yeast is fresh.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warm Warm but not hot.
  • 4 large eggs Use room temperature.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg for egg wash To achieve a golden finish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and eggs, and mix until just combined.
  4. Gradually add softened butter and knead until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air and shape it into a loaf, placing it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brush the top of the loaf with egg wash for a golden finish.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  4. Let cool before slicing to enjoy the perfect texture and flavor.

Notes

Store unused brioche in plastic wrap or foil for up to 3 days, or freeze slices for up to 3 months. Reheat as needed with a quick toast.
