Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 10 g salt
  • 75 g sugar
  • 21 g fresh yeast or 7g active dry yeast
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 150 ml milk warm
  • 150 g unsalted butter, softened

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar together until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. If using active dry yeast, let it stand for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and eggs to the flour mixture; mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate the softened butter into the dough until it becomes elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Punch the dough down to release the air, then shape it into a loaf or divide it into rolls.
  7. Place your shaped dough in a greased pan, cover it again, and let it rise until it doubles, about another hour.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  3. Allow the brioche to cool before slicing.
