Ingredients

Spice Mix
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika Provides a deep smoky flavor; can substitute with regular paprika for a milder taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika Adds sweetness and complexity; blending sweet and hot paprika enhances the flavor profile.
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano Lends an earthy element to the seasoning; Italian seasoning can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme Complements the oregano perfectly; can be swapped with Italian seasoning if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder Adds mild heat and a beautiful color; replace with your favorite chili spice for a different kick.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Enhances the overall flavor; fresh garlic can be used, but adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Boosts savory notes; fresh onions are an option, just remember to chop finely.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper Gives an extra kick of heat; reduce or omit for a milder flavor.
Salmon and Cooking Essentials
  • 4 filets Fresh Salmon Main ingredient packed with protein; feel free to substitute with trout or tuna for variety.
  • 2 tablespoons Light Olive Oil Helps spices adhere and prevents sticking; any neutral oil works well for grilling.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential to amplify flavors; kosher salt is best for grilling.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Adds an extra layer of flavor; use fresh-ground for enhanced taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, ensuring it’s nice and hot for that perfect sear.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, paprika, oregano, thyme, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and ground black pepper.
  3. Brush each salmon filet with the light olive oil, then generously rub the spice mixture all over the fish. Make sure you coat both sides for maximum flavor.
Grilling
  1. Place the seasoned salmon on the grill, skin-side down. Grill for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  2. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with a simple side salad, grilled asparagus, or creamy mashed potatoes. For a festive touch, top with fresh lemon juice.
