Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the milk and mix until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
  6. If you wish to add color, separate the batter and mix in a few drops of food coloring to achieve your desired hues.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting and decorating. Add sprinkles or fresh fruits for an extra festive touch.
