Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Scrub the potatoes under cold water and dry them with a towel.
  3. Prick the potatoes all over with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  4. Rub each potato with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Baking
  1. Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork easily goes through the flesh.
  3. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  4. Slice open and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

To store leftover baked potatoes, let them cool completely, then wrap each one in aluminum foil or place them in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Consider adding garlic powder or herbs to the olive oil for extra flavor.
