- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Add the melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture to the flour.
- Mix until a dough forms and knead for about 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth.
- If using, knead the blue food coloring into the dough until evenly distributed.
Rising
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and proceed with your desired recipe.
Notes
Don’t rush the yeast: Allow the yeast to fully activate until it’s frothy. Kneading is key: Proper kneading develops gluten, giving your dough structure.
