  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then incorporate the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, until everything is combined. Mix until just smooth; be careful not to overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
