Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Ensure it is fresh for the best rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
Additional Ingredients
  • 1 cup diced apples Choose tart or sweet varieties based on taste preference.
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Optional for added crunch.
  • as needed Oil for frying Use vegetable oil or your preferred frying oil.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined; be careful not to over-mix.
  4. Fold in the diced apples and pecans for added texture and flavor.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. Pour enough batter into the waffle iron to fill it, close it, and cook until the waffles turn golden brown and crispy.
  3. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat for frying.
  4. Cut the cooked waffles into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cookie cutters.
  5. Fry the donut shapes in the hot oil until they are crispy and golden on the outside. Remove and let them drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a sweet finish.

Notes

If leftovers remain, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days; for longer storage, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze for up to one month. Reheat before consuming.
