Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 6 cups sliced apples (about 6 medium apples) Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute for gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Ensure butter is melted but not hot
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Place the apple mixture in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Evenly spread the oat mixture over the apples in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  2. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes

Apple Crisp is best enjoyed warm. Consider serving it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and optional toppings like nuts or caramel sauce. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
