Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
For Dusting
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Mixing Dough
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the eggnog, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar if desired once cooled.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Can be frozen for up to three months with layers separated by parchment paper.
