Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine melted butter and 2 cups granulated sugar until well combined.
- Stir in baking powder and salt.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Add flour and cocoa powder, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in nuts if using.
- Spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
Cheesecake Layer
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until smooth.
- Beat in 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Gently spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
Final Assembly
- Dollop the remaining brownie batter over the cheesecake layer and swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with chocolate shavings before serving.
Notes
For serving, consider adding vanilla ice cream or fresh berries. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
