  • to taste cooking spray for coating

Method

Preparation
  1. Stir together the flour, smoked paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt in a shallow dish.
  2. In another shallow dish, lightly beat the egg with the water.
  3. In a third shallow dish, mix the panko breadcrumbs with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  4. Dredge the onion rings in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
  5. Dip the onion rings in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
  6. Dredge the onion rings in the panko mixture, pressing the sides so that it sticks nicely.
  7. Coat both sides of the onion rings with cooking spray.
Cooking
  1. Place each onion ring in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  2. Cook at 375°F for approximately 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  3. Flip the onion rings at the 6-minute mark for even cooking.
  4. Cover them to keep warm while you cook the remaining onion rings.

Notes

These onion rings are best served hot with your favorite dipping sauces. They can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
