  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
Decorations
  • Edible glitter or sprinkles
  • Fondant cutters for shapes
  • Fresh flowers or fruits (if desired)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, alternating with milk until combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Decoration
  1. For frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Add vanilla and food coloring if desired.
  2. Layer the cakes with frosting in between and on top. Decorate as per your theme and preference.

Notes

To store your cake, keep it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you need to preserve it longer, you can freeze the cake wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil for up to 2 months.
