Ingredients

For the Spider Eggs
  • 4 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved lengthwise
  • 1/4 cup black olives, pitted and sliced For spider body and legs
For the Cheese Mummies
  • 4 sticks string cheese
  • 4 slices deli-style halal beef or turkey breast, cut into thin strips
For the Apple Monsters
  • 2 large green apples, sliced into thick wedges
  • 1/4 cup almond butter or sunflower seed butter For spreading on apple wedges
  • 1/4 cup puffed rice cereal or sunflower seeds For 'teeth'
For the Ghostly Yogurt Bowls
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries For eyes and mouth decoration
For the Crunchy Side
  • 1/4 cup roasted chickpeas (halal-certified) Represent 'monster brains' or 'crunchy beetles'

Method

Preparation
  1. To make the Spider Eggs, take the halved hard-boiled eggs. Place one olive half in the center of the yolk to be the spider's body. Slice another olive into thin slivers and place four on each side of the body to look like legs.
  2. For the Cheese Mummies, take a string cheese stick. Carefully wrap the thin strips of halal beef around the cheese, leaving a small opening near the top. Place two tiny dots of olive or peppercorns in that opening to look like eyes peeking out.
  3. Create Apple Monsters by taking two apple wedges. Spread a thick layer of almond butter on one side of each wedge. Press the wedges together at one end to form a 'mouth.' Stick sunflower seeds or puffed rice into the almond butter to look like jagged teeth.
  4. Prepare Ghostly Yogurt Bowls by scooping Greek yogurt into small clear cups. Use blueberries to create two eyes and a large oval mouth on the surface of the yogurt.
  5. For a crunchy side, serve the roasted chickpeas in a small bowl. These represent 'monster brains' or 'crunchy beetles' to keep the theme going.
Serving
  1. Arrange all the completed snacks on a large dark platter to make the colors pop. Serve immediately while fresh and cool.

Notes

Store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Enjoy Spider Eggs and Cheese Mummies within 2 days for best freshness. Apple wedges should ideally be consumed on the day they are prepared, but if stored properly, they can last up to 1 day.
